The story behind the image:

Dancers was created during my residency at Arteventura (Spain) in 2022.
The life-sized cyanotypes on textile were made by lying down on the canvas in poses inspired by Matisse’s iconic dancers. When I think of Spain, I picture passion, dance, and long summer nights.

Before my trip to Arteventura, I felt empty and exhausted, hoping the residency would reignite my inspiration. The intense sunlight during the day pushed me to work in the soft light of mornings and evenings. Arteventura, set within a nature reserve, is wonderfully remote, and navigating the rural grounds after sunset required a good flashlight. That nightly rhythm sparked my fascination with light painting, which became a key element in this piece.
