Burning Lilies is about my conscious choice not to have children. This choice caused a stir in my and my partner’s circle of friends and family.

Vulnerability is very important to truly connect with other people. We are so easily ashamed for being vulnerable, but I believe it’s a strength.

For this timelapse, I stood in the same spot for 5 hours on a beach along the Westerschelde, near the village of ‘Zeedorp’. “Luctor et” symbolizes our challenges, but it still has an open ending.

Information needs to be fast. Long texts are avoided and images embraced but hardly looked at for more than second. I’m starting to feel like my capacity is filling up faster en faster.

Once the rooms were filled with life, now they are abandoned and have fallen into disrepair.
It’s the sense of temporality that makes the desire to live so intense.
